All students who participate in the regional and national
symposia receive public homage and certificates, recognizing
scientific interest and achievement and gain a sense of
self-confidence in interacting with other peers and professionals
of the research community. Monetary awards among other prizes
are often offered by sponsoring universities, in addition
to those prizes provided by the Departments of the Army,
Navy, and Air Force.
Regional finalists earn a paid trip to the National JSHS
for educational and scientific exchange as well as a publication
The National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium Abstracts
of the Research Finalists. The top three finalists from
each region further receive undergraduate, tuition scholarships
at values of $2000, $1500, and $1000 for first, second,
and third place, respectively. One teacher in each of the
48 regions is also awarded $500, honoring encouragement
of student participation in research.
At the national symposium, 18 first, second, and third
place finalists in each category are awarded significant
monetary prizes in the amounts of $16000, $6000, and $2000,
respectively. Those who receive first place are also awarded
an expense-paid trip to the London International Youth Science
Forum, in which finalists attend numerous lectures, demonstrations,
and seminars to promote scientific interest and research.
Among the aforementioned prizes, JSHS awards the priceless
opportunity of meeting and interacting with an accomplished
elite of young scientists from all over the nation in a
variety of fields, all with the common purpose of broadening
scientific horizons. Undoubtedly, such a rare opportunity
is the most valuable of the entire JSHS experience.
