Several weeks after
the Open Exam, my biology teacher told me that I had reached
the Semifinal Round and would take another exam. Although
it is possible to find out your exact score on the Open Exam,
I chose not to ask my teacher for the information. I had advanced
and that was all that mattered to me. I didn't study anything
more for this exam, hoping once again that all of the studying
I had done throughout the year would help me perform well.
The multiple choice section was very
similar to the Open Exam. On the matching/fill-in-the-blank
section, I did not read the directions on the front of the
exam that stated that points would be subtracted from your
score for all incorrect answers (similar to the SAT). Not
knowing this, I filled in an answer for every question.
In the end, though, answering everything did not jeopardize
my score.
